June 21st. 2015 "Father's In Christ" 1 John 2:13-14
(AUDIO SERMON)
By Pastor Ray Sleiman
1 John 2:13-14 (NLT)
13 I am writing to you who are mature in the faith[a]
because you know Christ, who existed from the beginning.
I am writing to you who are young in the faith
because you have won your battle with the evil one.
14 I have written to you who are God’s children
because you know the Father.
I have written to you who are mature in the faith
because you know Christ, who existed from the beginning.
I have written to you who are young in the faith
because you are strong.
God’s word lives in your hearts,
and you have won your battle with the evil one.
Matthew 19:18-19 (NLT)
18 “Which ones?” the man asked.
And Jesus replied: “‘You must not murder. You must not commit adultery. You must not steal. You must not testify falsely. 19 Honor your father and mother. Love your neighbor as yourself.’[a]”
Ephesians 6:2 (NLT)
2 “Honor your father and mother.” This is the first commandment with a promise:
1 Timothy 4:12 (NLT)
12 Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.
Hebrews 5:12-14 (NLT)
12 You have been believers so long now that you ought to be teaching others. Instead, you need someone to teach you again the basic things about God’s word.[a] You are like babies who need milk and cannot eat solid food. 13 For someone who lives on milk is still an infant and doesn’t know how to do what is right. 14 Solid food is for those who are mature, who through training have the skill to recognize the difference between right and wrong.
1 Corinthians 15:58
58 So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.
1 Corinthians 4:15
15 For even if you had ten thousand others to teach you about Christ, you have only one spiritual father. For I became your father in Christ Jesus when I preached the Good News to you.
Philemon 1:10 (NLT)
10 I appeal to you to show kindness to my child, Onesimus. I became his father in the faith while here in prison.
Proverbs 11:30 (NLT)
30 The seeds of good deeds become a tree of life;
a wise person wins friends.[a]
Acts 17:26 (NLT)
26 From one man[a] he created all the nations throughout the whole earth. He decided beforehand when they should rise and fall, and he determined their boundaries.
1 Corinthians 2:2 (NLT)
2 For I decided that while I was with you I would forget everything except Jesus Christ, the one who was crucified.
1 John 2:12 (NLT)
12 I am writing to you who are God’s children
because your sins have been forgiven through Jesus.[a]
Psalm 119:102
102 I haven’t turned away from your regulations,
for you have taught me well.
Romans 9:3 (NLT)
3 for my people, my Jewish brothers and sisters.[a] I would be willing to be forever cursed—cut off from Christ!—if that would save them.
13 I am writing to you who are mature in the faith[a]
